Diabetes is a metabolic disorder that causes levels of sugar in the blood to rise. It occurs as a result of the body being unable to produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use insulin. Through significant lifestyle changes, such as a strict diet, regular exercise, and adding a high quality natural supplement to lower blood sugar, type 2 diabetes can be effectively managed - and, in some cases, even reversed.
Dietary Supplements for Diabetes
There are many available supplements available for type 2 diabetes that help support and maintain healthy blood sugar levels. We’ve listed some of the best ones below.
Banaba - Banaba is a plant with leaves which have been used for anti-diabetic purposes. It contains molecules, such as corosolic acid, which may help support glucose control. Early research shows that it may lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes and may help the body use insulin more efficiently.
Cinnamon - Cinnamon has been shown to improve blood glucose and cholesterol levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It may also reduce risk factors associated with diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Studies have shown that as little as 1g of cinnamon per day may increase insulin sensitivity and help manage or reverse type 2 diabetes.
Chromium - Chromium is an essential element involved in the action of insulin, and in diabetic individuals, tissue levels of chromium are typically reduced. Growing evidence suggests that chromium may improve insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism in patients who are insulin resistant and with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Berberine - Berberine is an alkaloid extracted from various herbs and used in traditional Chinese medicine. Human and animal trials have shown that taking 1500mg of berberine is equally effective as taking 1500mg of metformin, a common pharmaceutical for treating type 2 diabetes. Berberine reduces insulin resistance and improves biomarkers of type 2 diabetes, such as fasting glucose and glycated hemoglobin.
Fenugreek seeds - Fenugreek is an aromatic plant with medicinal properties. Fenugreek seeds are high in soluble fiber, which helps lower blood sugar by slowing down digestion and absorption of carbohydrates. It has been shown in multiple trials to alleviate problems with blood sugar metabolism in people with type 2 diabetes.
Vitamin B-1 - People with type 1 and type 2 diabetes have around 75 percent less vitamin B1 than people without diabetes. Vitamin B1 - or thiamine - supports cardiovascular function and a healthy nervous system. Research shows that taken in high doses, vitamin B1 may reduce kidney disease in people with type 2 diabetes.
Alpha-Lipoic Acid - There is strong evidence that alpha-lipoic acid supplements help with type 2 diabetes. Studies have found that they may improve insulin resistance, improve blood sugar control, ease symptoms of nerve damage (neuropathy), and lower the risk of retinopathy (damage to the retina, causing loss of vision).
Bitter lemon - Bitter lemon contains at least three active substances with anti-diabetic properties. Studies have shown that a 2,000 mg daily dose of bitter melon may significantly reduce blood glucose levels among patients with type 2 diabetes. However, more research is needed to confirm the fruit’s role in diabetes treatment.
Magnesium - Lower levels of magnesium are associated with insulin resistance. It is common for people with type 2 diabetes to be deficient in magnesium. Magnesium has been shown in some trials to improve insulin sensitivity and blood sugar concentrations in fasting states. However, more larger randomized clinical trials need to be done to support the inclusion of magnesium supplements for the management of type 2 diabetes.
Glyco-Optimizer: Glyco-Optimizer is an all-natural, clinical grade supplement designed to work as part of a healthy lifestyle to help manage type 2 diabetes.
A 2012 study conducted at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Louisiana concluded that a 500mg dose of Berberine was "comparable to the effect of metformin". Study participants saw their HBA1c levels fall by 2%. This and dozens of other studies are exactly why we formulated Glyco-Optimizer to contain 400mg of 98% pure, clinical strength Berberine, extracted from all-natural Phellodendron Bark.
Banaba is a lesser known nutrient included in Glyco-Optimizer because of its powerful, diabetes-reversing effects. It contains the bioactive ingredient corosolic acid which has been shown to help increase the amount of glucose absorbed by our cells.
Based on this research, and using only the purest quality, all natural and organic ingredients, we have created Glyco Optimizer: a proven, all-natural formulation that will lower HBA1c levels and restore normal insulin sensitivity.
