Prostate Orgasm: Everything You Need To Know

Sex is not taboo anymore, and we can talk about it openly without harming sensibilities.

However, there are still topics that people prefer not to talk about.

Anal stimulation is one of those, especially in straight men.

But, it doesn’t matter what your sexuality is; you can experience an extra tickling sensation all over your body through a prostate orgasm.

But what is it exactly, and how can you trigger that sensation?

Luckily, your doctor is not the only source of information. We’re here to solve your doubts with absolute discretion and walk you through different techniques and recommendations to get you started.

What is a prostate orgasm?

The prostate gland is a very small spot surrounding a part of the urethra. As a gland, it contributes to the volume of semen with a liquid called prostatic fluid.

It is a muscular gland located near the rectum, and you can feel it through the rectal wall.

The prostate has many nerve endings, and you can tell when someone is touching you there (1). That’s why people often call the prostate P-spot, and they say it is the male g spot.

When you reach an orgasm triggered by this spot, it is called a prostate orgasm. It is what makes anal sex enjoyable, and if you know how to activate this area, it will multiply your sexual pleasure.

Everyone experiences prostate stimulated orgasms differently. You may even feel pain instead of pleasure if you have chronic prostatitis or another prostate condition.

In any case, the best way to know if this is for you or not is to try it for yourself. But even before sticking your fingers to your bottom, you need to know where to look.

Where is the prostate?

The location of the prostate is what makes prostate orgasms possible. This is a small gland surrounding the urethra in males. It is located right beside the rectum, and you can feel the gland through the rectal wall.

That is what doctors feel when you get a digital rectal exam, except that we’re not locating the prostate for medical reasons this time (2).

After introducing your fingers inside the rectum, the prostate is located around two inches deep. Therefore, it is not very deep within like some people believe. Thus, stimulation doesn’t have to be painful or particularly uncomfortable.

How do you find it?

You have two ways to locate the prostate. There’s a direct way or an indirect way.

The former is more effective but may not be on everyone’s bag. The latter may be more comfortable for some men, but it might not be as effective to trigger prostate orgasms.

Direct way

It is directly through your anus, and it is similar to anal sex. The difference is that you don’t have to go deep within your rectum to find the prostate.

Just head south until you find your anal region. Then, stick your fingers inside and take them two inches deep using enough lubrication.

You may not feel anything notably different at first. But then, after a while and some practice, you will find your way through.

Indirect way

There’s also an indirect way if you’re not into anal stimulation. It is called external prostate massage.

This indirect route runs between your scrotum and your anus, right in the middle. The area is called the perineum, and you can press on this area to stimulate your prostate.

Once again, it might not feel different at first, but all you need is some experience and a bit of patience.

Either way, you will be stimulating the prostate and may experience a different feeling during ejaculation.

Remember that direct stimulation provides more pleasure, even if you find it a bit uncomfortable at first.

What does the prostate feel like?

When you’re trying to stimulate your prostate, it is essential to know how it feels.

Otherwise, you will be blind and won’t probably locate the gland or feel any difference in your penile orgasm.

Doctors have complete training to learn how to feel the prostate during a digital rectal exam.

You may not have their implements, but you can get used to the feeling of the prostate, too.

The prostate feels different if you’re using the direct or indirect way. It also swells when you feel sexually aroused (not the same as enlarged prostate). Thus, it is easier to feel the gland when you’re turned on.

If you’re trying to feel the prostate from the outside, you need to find the right spot in the perineum. When you’re feeling the space between your penis and anus, you will find different textures.

Near the penile bulb, you will feel it is firmer, especially when you have an erection. But when you run a bit farther back, it feels fleshier and soft.

This is where you want to be. Gently press on this area, and you may experience a sensation similar to the need of taking a leak. You won’t feel the gland, but the pressure reaches this area and gives you an effect.

If you’re trying to feel the prostate from the inside, you might need some training. But after a while, you will feel the difference between the fleshy bulb of the prostate and the rest of the rectal lining.

Take your time and start by feeling this area without any gloves or a condom. When you can locate the prostate gland quickly, you can move forward and do it with a condom or something else.

Is it easy to have a prostate orgasm?

With so many instructions, it may seem that it is pretty tricky to achieve a prostate orgasm.

But you’re only reading recommendations and steps to understand how it works. Once you locate your P-spot, everything will be a lot easier.

Keep in mind that prostate orgasm is a popular concept, but it is not extensively backed up by clinical research.

We don’t have serious studies about it to know exactly how to trigger this sensation for everyone. Thus, your experience in this area will probably be different from those reported by someone else.

There is no data to say how common it is and if everyone can experience a prostate orgasm.

The best way to find out if this is for you is to try it. It may take some time until you have enough practice and start feeling the difference (2,3). But stay open to the new experience and keep trying for a while.

But how do you know you had a prostate orgasm? How is it different from a regular orgasm?

They are simply more intense, and you will feel some tickling and a pleasant sensation all over your body. You can feel shudders or tingle for a few seconds.

In very intense prostate orgasms, you could even dribble a milky prostate fluid similar to semen. It is not an ejaculation, though. It is called prostate milking.

How to get started

Many people prefer to try anal stimulation by themselves before trying this with their partner.

This will make them feel more comfortable with the idea and give you time to play with different lubricants or anal sex toys.

However, when you feel comfortable by yourself, and even if you didn’t feel anything different, it is worthwhile to give it a try with your partner.

Here are some recommendations for you both:

If you’re receiving prostate stimulation

  • Sexual stimulation and arousal are essential. Your prostate will be easier to reach and more sensitive. Make sure you’re turned on and use foreplay, penile stimulation, and anything you prefer.
  • You want to be relaxed throughout the process. This will reduce the discomfort and make it truly enjoyable.
  • Use the bathroom before trying male prostate stimulation. You can also shower to make sure everything is clean down there.
  • Some people use enemas to make sure they are absolutely clean for butt play. But it is not mandatory and won’t make your prostate more sensitive.
  • Do not forget to use a lubricant. We recommend water-based lubricants for anal penetration.

If you’re giving prostate stimulation

  • You also need to clean your hands before and after giving prostate stimulation.
  • Cut your nails and make sure the borders feel very smooth. The inner skin of the anus is delicate and easy to tear or scratch.
  • You can use a condom to make sure that your hands do not get dirty. If you’re using a condom, you can stuff cotton inside to make your partner more comfortable.
  • Shower together with your partner if that turns you on. It can be an excellent foreplay idea.

Techniques to try

You’re turned on, with lube and fingers in your bottom. You’re feeling the prostate or at least located your fingers where it should be. What’s next?

You can try a few movements depending on how you’re stimulating the prostate:

If you’re stimulating the prostate with your fingers

  • After inserting your lubed finger, you could simply curl it upward, pointing to the belly button. This motion looks like a come-hither signal, and you can repeat it at different speeds.
  • You can also press on the prostate with the pad of the finger. Again, this should be a gentle pressure, and you can hold it for longer or shorter intervals.
  • If you have practice locating the prostate, you can also perform circular movements. Circle the perimeter of the prostate at different speeds and combine with other techniques.
  • Whatever technique you’re using, you can also speed up the movements. This simulates the effect of vibration and speeds up prostate orgasm.

If you’re stimulating the prostate with a sex toy

  • First off, you can try applying some pressure to your prostate. Test different positions and pressure levels until you locate the P-spot.
  • Depending on your preferences, you can also go deeper with sex toys. There’s no right or wrong way to stimulate your prostate, and you can go as deep as you want. Just make sure that you’re using a device designed for deep anal stimulation.
  • There are specialized prostate toys with vibration function, different pulses, and speeds. So when you’re using them, make them vibrate faster when you’re close to the orgasm.
  • Explore with your prostate massager. Some of them include an external stimulator to work on your peritoneum and give you double prostate pleasure.

Positions to try

You can try various positions to stimulate your prostate. Once again, there’s no standard way to do this, and you might prefer one over the other. Here’s a list of options you can try:

Face down

This is a comfortable position and only requires you to lie face down in your bed.

Reach your anus with the finger and try one of the techniques described above. If your partner is giving you stimulation, you can rest your legs and arms on each side.

Legs up

You could also lie on your back and pull your legs up, resting your knees on your chest. Hold them in place with one arm while the other reaches the anus.

If your partner is giving you stimulation, relax on your back while you receive a massage.

On your side

Lying on your side can be an easy option. It makes it easier to locate the prostate and works great for beginners.

Doggy style

In this position, you will be on all fours and reaching the anus with your hands. This one is easier if you have a partner stimulating your prostate.

Conclusion

Prostate induced orgasm is a plus if you want to enhance ejaculatory orgasms. It consists of giving yourself a prostatic massage or having your partner do that for you.

This type of prostate play requires you to locate the prostate and know how it feels like. Once you know where you’re aiming, you can press, circle, or tickle on the prostate.

You may notice a type of seminal fluid, but it won’t change your ejaculation frequency.

This type of sexual activity is not for everyone and might not be recommended if you have urinary incontinence or chronic prostatitis.

But if you’re willing to give it a try, it might surprise you to feel the most intense orgasm ever.
